Home Builders in Powys to Get Free Advice on Renewable Energy

Sunday 14th February 2010

Professionals in the buildings/homes sector (architects, planners, surveyors, builders etc) who would like to learn more about renewable energy, the role it can play, and the value it can add to new and existing buildings and homes, are being invited to a series of free 2 hour talks throughout Powys in February and March. The sessions will give advice on compliance with tightening standards for energy efficiency and carbon emission reductions and are to be hosted by Severn Wye Energy Agency in association with Glasu and Powys County Council.

The talks will include information on commonly installed technologies such as solar panels and wood fuel (pellets, chip, log etc) and when they are most appropriate. The recently introduced government cash rewards (feed in tariffs) for the production of low carbon electricity and heating by householders and communities will also be covered.

The talks will be free to those who live in Powys but if you live outside the county you may still be able to attend depending on sufficient space. The events are funded by Glasu, see www.glasu.org.uk for more details on these and other events.

The events which will take place between 2 and 4pm, will be held on the following dates: Monday, 22nd February in Brecon, Tuesday, 23rd February in Llandrindod Wells and Tuesday, 16th March in Welshpool. An event will also be taking place in Ystradgynlais, with venue and date to be confirmed.

Anyone interested in attending any of the above events or would like any more information should contact Maggie Keville on 01982 551006, or email maggie@swea.co.uk.
