Niel Bally at work in his studioRichard Renshaw exhibited his sculptures at his home and is adding finishing touches to one of his works hereIt was no exaggeration to say that visitors would be spoilt for choice in the range of activities from which to choose during the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.   The second Crickhowell Artists’ Trail of Open Studios and Galleries proved very successful and gave visitors and locals alike the opportunity to revel in a range of superb local art while exploring the hidden magical corners of the landscape where many artists live and work. Whether dipping into a few studios or visiting 22 venues over the 3 days, visitors have expressed their delight at the range and quality of art, which sets this area apart.  Meeting and chatting to artists has proved inspirational to many.
Jan Morgan, Manager of the Crickhowell Resource & Information Centre said, “The second Art Trail has proved a huge success and we are grateful to Collabor8* for the support to us in extending this year’s trail. We look forward to working with artists to plan for next year”.
Artists who are interested in joining the trail in 2011 can register their interest by contacting Suzette Pratten at CRiC  Tel 01873 811970.
The exhibition entitled “From the Earth” in the oriel cric galley (upstairs in the Crickhowell Resource & Information Centre) can be enjoyed until mid July. It includes a group exhibition by members of the South Wales potters who have contributed a beautiful selection of ceramic work, reflecting a wide range of styles and techniques. Whether you have a preference for the traditional, the functional, the purely decorative or the unconventional, there is much to admire.
Visitors are also greatly enjoying the work by a number of local artists. Rhian Symes has brought the joy of spring into the gallery with her vibrant watercolours. The variety of printmaking techniques employed in the work of  Lesley Lillywhite and the scraperboard prints of Kay Leverton add further variety and delicacy to the exhibition. Robin Kenchington, David Haswell and Keith Foster continue to capture the spirit of the Welsh landscape in their paintings. The gallery is open daily between 10am and 5pm.The art trail was supported by CRiC and Collabor8
