Preparations are well under way for Crickhowell Archive Centre’s major event to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The project has come a long way since Elizabeth Cornelius formed the idea of establishing a centre in town to preserve and record the heritage of the area. The original small collection of documents, photographs and artifacts which had been collected by the old Crickhowell History Society and Crickhowell Civic Society in the 1960s and 70s has now expanded to become a mine of information about the town and the surrounding area. Everybody who lives locally and, it is hoped, many visitors will find much to fascinate them in the exhibition. One of the prime attractions will, of course, be many historical photographs but there will also be information on how to trace your family tree, house histories and old wills. In celebration of their anniversary the Centre is opening the exhibition and display of their resources in CRiC on Friday 20th August from 2.00pm to 6.00pm and on Saturday 21st August from 10.00am to 6.00pm. The exhibition will be officially opened by the Centre’s Honorary President, The Honourable Mrs Shân Legge-Bourke at 4.00pm on Friday 20th August..
