People of Crickhowell praised for their friendly welcome
Wednesday 2nd September 2009
We, who live in this part of the National Park, know how fortunate we are to live in an area of such beauty and in such an easy community. However, perhaps we are guilty of taking these things for granted and sometimes need reminding how privileged we are to live here. A visitor who stayed in our town recently sent the following comments to the Brecon Beacons National Park feedback website on her return home. It is nice to think that we are in a position to provide visitors with such a pleasant holiday experience. ‘I recently had a camping holiday in your beautiful area. We stayed at a camp site by the river in Crickhowell and I would just like to say how nice and refreshing it was to see people relaxed and happy, and I am not talking about the visitors, we found everybody cordial and polite in the village. I am not just talking about the local retailers who were very helpful and courteous but the local people out walking their dogs, it took me back to when I was a child and people had time and patience for one another and I am only 47 yrs young, almost everyone we passed said hello. It made us feel most welcome, you could see and sense the contentment in people. I do not know what’s in the water, but can you ship some to the Midlands as we need plenty of it. Thank you people of Crickhowell for helping me believe that people are still friendly.’
