St. David's Fair

Description:
Craft and local produce stalls - hot drinks eats etc.
 
The Clarence Hall is situated in Beaufort Street, Crickhowell, next door to CRiC

Adventure Day for Kids!

Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd March

Time:
8.30am - 4.30pm
Location:
Cwrt-y-Gollen Camp - On A40 towards Abergavenny from Crickhowell
Description:

Leave your children (6 to 16 years old) in the capable hands of the RAF! Activities to include, adventure activities, orienteering, tresure hunt, sports and games, mobile team challenge, board games & movies (PG rated) on the 'Big Screen'!

All children are required to bring: -

  • Packed Lunch
  • Waterproof clothing
  • Spare clothes and footwear
  • Towel
  • An appetite for fun!

Please note that the activities will be weather dependent and the chances of children getting wet are extremely high. Therefore all participants are required to be able to get changed without adult supervision.

Instructors are CRB checked.

The RAF are providing the day free of charge but a donation of about �3 per kid is requested to help cover the administration costs of the festival.

Geocache Event

Description:

Geocaching is an activity for those interested in navigating around the countryside, using a GPS or by map and compass and without a leader.

Caches are hidden at various places and the Grid Reference and clues as to their whereabouts published on the internet at www.geocaching.com.

The Geocache Event is complementary to the Walking Festival, you don�t need to take part in any of the organised walks to take part in the Geocache Event.

Six new permanent traditional caches will be listed in the in the Crickhowell area in the run up to the Festival (complying with the caches listing requirements/guidelines on the Geocaching.com website). Go to www.geocaching.com to find the Grid References and clues (you will need to register first, if you have not already done so).

Just in time for the weekends of 1/2 March and 8/9 March special tokens will be distributed to each cache for Geocachers to collect. On each weekend, whoever is first to collect a set of tokens and hand it in to Headquarters (CRiC, SO218183) will receive a prize of Geocaching goodies. An area will also be set aside where Geocachers can meet and chat about Geocaching and exchange Travel Bugs etc.

St David's Day Twmpath

Description:

Dance your sore feet away to Bandemonium - a 25 piece community band from Herefordshire.

A Twmpath is a Ceilidh or Barn Dance, so there will be some familiar routines and many new ones, but don't worry, there will be a caller to tell you what to do - and half the fun is getting it wrong!

Adults �7.50 and under 16's �5.00

Price includes a Welsh Hog Roast! (Vegetarian options available)

Town Treasure Trail

Introduction to Map Interpretation

Description:
Kevin Walker is an experienced walk leader, instructor and author. Far more than simple map reading, map interpretation allows you to read a map like a book, thus enabling you to get an amazingly detailed picture of the ground. Introduction to Navigation using a compass and map

Description:
Kevin Walker is an experienced walk leader, instructor and author. See his website at mountain-activities.com. For his second session at the festival Kevin is going to help you learn the basics of using a compass to find your way. Now you need never get lost again! This is suitable for families. Bring a compass, if you have one, but there should be enough around to borrow one for the lesson
