Crickhowell Walking Festival 2008

Introduction

The festival is organised by Promote Crickhowell! and the Crickhowell Resource and Information Centre (CRiC). Many of the walks start and finish at the CRiC building, which is in the centre of Crickhowell and also houses the Tourist Information Centre. It is the HQ for the festival and volunteers will be on hand to answer your queries during normal opening times.

You can choose to stay for either weekend, a day or a full weekyou will find plenty to do!

The walks are all led by experienced local guides and range from strenuous walks over the Black Mountains and surrounding hills to easier walks for the less able or less adventurous.

We have included historical and general interest walks to provide information about this interesting area. There are also walks for children, toddlers and those with access difficulties to complement the walks designed for the fit and adventurous.

We are extremely fortunate to be partnered with the Brecon Beacons Park Society (www.breconbeaconsparksociety.org/), who have extensive experience of organising walks in the Brecon Beacons National Parkand the RAF who have kindly volunteered to provide adventure days for 6 to 16 year olds whilst their parents are out walking (see Events).

We believe we have something that will suit all ages and abilities.

Crickhowell is situated just west of Abergavenny and about 1 hour drive from the Severn Bridge on the M4 or 2 hours from Birmingham. There are plenty of places to stay ranging from bunk houses, B&B;s and first class hotels. The area is also well served for eating out with many pubs providing food and, in addition, superb restaurants.
